But that's not the real story. The structural shift happening beneath this race is far more significant. What we're witnessing is the beginning of a fundamental reorganization in how humanity thinks about resource extraction and territorial control beyond Earth.
For decades, the Moon was a symbolic prize. A destination for flags and footprints. The scientific value was real, but the emotional weight overshadowed everything else. We went to the Moon to prove capability and national strength. We went because we could.
Water changes that calculus entirely. Water on the Moon isn't a curiosity. It's infrastructure. It's fuel. It's the difference between a Moon base that requires constant resupply from Earth and one that could theoretically sustain itself.
