Scientists identified 13 locations on Mars that match the mineralogy and chemistry of Teghaza 001, one of the most ancient Martian meteorites ever found on Earth. The locations cluster in the southern highlands of Mars. Researchers used data from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to identify these areas. While scientists cannot know for certain where a Martian meteorite originated, the chemical and mineralogical signatures of Teghaza 001 link it to these highland regions. NASA's Mars Global Surveyor mission provided the base map data for the analysis.
