NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has detected a puzzling absence of oxygen in nearby dwarf galaxies. Researchers examined 37 dwarf galaxies, including NGC 4449, and found that much of the oxygen they expected to observe is missing. Dwarf galaxies contain a few thousand to hundreds of millions of stars. The findings come from analysis of data released on November 2, 2026.
