Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk captured a selfie during a spacewalk on Oct. 29, 2026, with Earth visible in the background. The International Space Station orbited 267 miles above the South Atlantic Ocean as Kutryk posed for the photograph.
This was the first Canadian spacewalk since 2019. Kutryk and NASA astronaut Anil Menon installed a new roll-out solar array on the station and completed preparatory tasks for a follow-up spacewalk scheduled for Nov. 5.
On Nov. 5, the same two astronauts will venture outside again to install the eighth and final roll-out solar array. NASA officials stated the eight new arrays will increase the station's available power by 30%.
